By now I’ve gotten used to living with two boys. Maybe I shouldn’t have been so surprised to learn that we’re expecting a girl, but, initially, the news shook up my expectations; I’ve become thoroughly calibrated to rocks and dirt, light switches and sprinklers, big red trucks and boy jokes, coffee and car parts…and I like it. My hunch is that, growing up in this household, this little girl will, too. But I also wanted to create a space for her that would be feminine and a tiny bit classic with a modern twist, full of interesting objects from nature, good books, and green things. I hope she’ll love to hike and explore, catch bugs and change tires, appreciate beauty and revel in nature. Here are a few snapshots of the space she’ll occupy starting in…oh, a few days or so.
